A further 445 coronavirus cases were confirmed in Africa on Sunday, bringing the continent-wide tally to 13,145, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said.

The figure, it said, more than doubled in the last 24 hours as 208 cases were confirmed on Saturday.

In an update, the Africa CDC said 34 people had died of COVID-19 related ailments in that period, bringing the total to 700.

Recoveries, meanwhile, stood at 2,171 across the continent, up from 2,050 on April 11.
