Israeli military officials said Friday, Israeli air defense systems detected three launches last Friday. The officials say one missile broke up over Turkey and showered debris on two Turkish towns, but caused no injuries.
There has been no comment from Syria or Turkey.
Israeli officials described the tests as an act of defiance toward the United States and the United Nations, which pushed Syria to withdraw its troops from Lebanon in the wake of the February assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
Israeli officials say they are concerned the Scud missiles are being designed to carry chemical weapons capable of hitting Israeli targets.
