ISTANBUL (AA) - Omer Polat, the Chairman of the Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MUSIAD) said on Thursday that the words of IMF First Deputy Managing Director Anne Krueger about minimum wage in Turkey was misunderstood by the public opinion.
''IMF delegation told us that Krueger only wanted to say that the minimum wage in Turkey was higher than the one in other countries,'' said Polat who met the IMF delegation headed by Turkey Desk Chief Lorenzo Giorgianni the same day.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, Polat said that MUSIAD explained concern over some remarks made by the IMF about Turkish economy and that IMF explained their concerns, too.
''IMF is not sure about the automatic increase in revenues (or the guarantee of that) as a result of decrease in taxes and decrease in social security deductions,' said Polat.
Polat stressed that nevertheless IMF delegation said they shared many of the concerns expressed by MUSIAD at the end of the meeting.
IMF delegation also met the Turkish Exporters' Assembly directors the same day.
