ISTANBUL (AA) - U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Eric Edelman said on Thursday that there had been more affinities than differences between Turkey and the United States.
Edelman, whose tenure in Ankara will end soon, paid a visit to Governor Muammer Guler of Istanbul to bid farewell.
Speaking at the meeting, Edelman said that several difficulties and a series of ups and downs emerged in Turkey-United States relations during his two-year term in office in Ankara, and that they were quite normal in bilateral relations between countries.
Despite all the differences of opinion, Turkey and the United States have been acting in harmony for years on many issues such as the Balkans, Afghanistan, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline project and the Middle East peace process.
Meanwhile, Guler thanked Edelman for his contribution to enhancement of Turkey-United States relations.
