ANKARA (AA) - Turkish Agriculture & Rural Affairs Minister Sami Guclu said on Wednesday that technical difficulties encountered in exports of fruits & vegetables to Russia would be resolved soon.
Guclu met Russian Ambassador to Turkey Petr Stegny earlier in the day. During the meeting, the parties decided to resolve the difficulties as soon as possible.
A Turkish delegation headed by the Ministry of Agriculture Deputy Undersecretary Nihat Pakdil will leave for Russia on Thursday to this end.
Russia is expected to lift the ban this weekend, sources said.
Russia decided to ban imports of fruits & vegetables from Turkey as of end-May due to presence of fruit fly larvae in fresh fruits imported from Turkey in November 2004.
