BERLIN (AA) - German Ambassador to Turkey Wolf-Ruthart Born said on Tuesday that ''even if the government changes in Germany, Turkey-EU entry talks will start on October 3rd.''
Addressing a meeting on Turkish economy held in Berlin, Germany, Born commented that German Christian Democratic Union Party (CDU) leader Angela Merkel was not against Turkey.
''Merkel told in her visit to Ankara that she was not against Turkey and she was warm to the idea of giving a European perspective to Turkey. She said that the German government would not assume a negative stance against Turkey during the negotiations that would start on Oct. 3rd. Her proposal of privileged partnership (for Turkey) doesn't mean that Merkel is against Turkey,'' Born commented.
Noting that four million German tourists spent their vacation in Turkey last year, Born added that ''Turkish-German relations are very important for both sides.''
