MANAMA (AA) - Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul had meetings related to economy on the last day (Tuesday) of his visit to Bahrain and later he left for Turkey.
Gul had a meeting with Bahraini Central Bank Governor Rashid Mohammad Al Maraj, investment and finance circles and members of the Bahraini Banks Union. Later Gul met Bahraini Finance Minister Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Hamad bin Abdallah Al Khalifa.
Calling Bahraini businessmen to invest in Turkey in those meetings, Gul said that ''Turkey is even ready to give priority to investments to be undertaken by Gulf countries in Turkey.''
Bahraini officials said that they were impressed by the performance of the Turkish economy and the growth rate. Bahraini officials stated that they would encourage businessmen to invest in Turkey and also send delegations to Turkey to seek investment opportunities.
Gul remarked that the two countries wanted to sign an agreement on prevention of double taxation as soon as possible and another agreement on protection and encouragement of investments.
Gul stressed that Turkish contractors could help in infrastructure and construction sectors in Bahrain, calling Bahraini businessmen to invest in Turkish tourism sector.
