ANKARA (AA) - Istanbul will host an international conference on democracy and global security from June 9th to 11th, Deputy Director General of Security Ramazan Er said on Tuesday.
Er told the A.A correspondent that 652 authorities from about 70 countries will attend the conference that would focus on democracy, international terrorism and counter-terrorism.
According to Er, the conference will be held under the auspices of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and with contributions of Interior Minister Abdulkadir Aksu.
''I think that this conference will be fruitful for international cooperation and joint security measures to be taken against cross-border crimes and international terrorism,'' said Er.
Importance of Turkey for regional and global security, relationship between democracy and terrorism, regional and national security, religion and terrorism, violence and terrorism, fight against organized crimes, counter-terrorism, peace and peaceful policies, solution of conflicts, international communication, terrorism and security, terrorism and education, joint fight against cross-border crimes, importance of international cooperation in settlement of global security and developments in concept of security will be discussed during this conference.
