MERSIN (AA) - Cooperation and investment opportunities between Turkey and Sudan were assessed during ''Country Promotion Meeting'' which was held by Mersin Chamber of Trade & Industry (MTSO) and Arab-Turkish Businessmen Association (TURAB) in southern city of Mersin on Monday.
Sudanese Ambassador to Turkey Altereifi Ahmed Kormino said during the meeting that every guarantee is provided to investors in Sudan with Investment Incentive Law. He called Turkish businessmen to invest in Sudan.
Kormino said, ''Sudan is three times bigger than Turkey. There are large fields which can be used as agriculture and industry areas in Sudan which makes the country attractive for investment. There is no difficulty in raw material, water and labor force. Also there are many universities and organizations to train technical personnel.''
''Through Investment Incentive Law, investors are protected in Sudan. Entrepreneurs can enter Sudan without paying customs fee and tax. They can also pull back their money which they invested. Loan, field, raw material and labor force are plentiful in Sudan. The only deficiency is capital. We launched initiatives to increase flights of passenger and cargo planes between Turkey and Sudan to develop cooperation and relations,'' he noted.
TURAB Chairman Mehmet Hadra said that Turkey and Sudan are on an important stage in the aspect of commercial relations.
He said, ''Turkey is a bridge between west and east. Turkey, as a country on the eve of membership to the EU, can provide every type of information and support to Sudan in commercial area. Sudan is on an important location as an entrance to eastern and southern African markets.''
''Sudan is important for Turkey and Turkish businessmen,'' he added.
