ISTANBUL (AA) - Egemen Bagis, the chairman of Turkish-U.S. Interparliamentary Friendship Group and a MP from the ruling Justice & Development Party (AK Party) hosted dinner on Sunday in honor of U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Eric Edelman, whose mission in Turkey will end soon.
Members of Turkish Friendship Group at the U.S. House of Representatives, who will go to TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) on Monday, also attended the dinner.
During the dinner, Bagis recalled that members of the Turkish Friendship Group at the U.S. House of Representatives would visit TRNC tomorrow (Monday), and noted, ''tomorrow will be a historic day.''
Bagis stated that Edelman contributed to the enhancement of bilateral relations during his term in office, and wished him success in his new job.
On the other hand, Ed Whitfield, the Co-Chairman of Turkish Friendship Group at the U.S. House of Representatives, said, ''we know that international community has approved the steps we have taken to end isolation of North Cyprus. Therefore, we are looking forward to our visit.''
