Soros arrives in Georgia

TBILISI - Well-known U.S. businessman and philanthropist George Soros has arrived in Georgia for a three-day visit intended to mark the tenth anniversary of his Open Society-Georgia Foundation.
Senior Georgian officials greeted the U.S. businessman at Tbilisi's airport.
Open Society-Georgia Foundation director David Darchiashvili told journalists at the airport that Soros had made a major contribution to democratic processes and educational programs in Georgia.
Opposition members, however, accused the U.S. businessman of involvement in the 'role revolution' in Georgia in 2003.
Labor party members and numerous supporters of former Georgian president Zviad Gamsakhurdia have announced plans to hold protests during the entire period of Soros's stay in Georgia.
Labor party leader Shalva Natelashvili told journalists that Soros had come to Georgia "to meet with his proteges such as [Georgian President Mikheil] Saakashvili."
Natelashvili promised that his party members would not throw bad eggs at Soros. "There will be other surprises," he said.
