PARIS - The "no" vote in France`s referendum on the EU constitution stood at 55.96 percent, against 44.04 percent for the "yes" camp, with more than 85 percent of votes counted, the interior ministry said Sunday.
According to these results, which accounted for 35,612,313 eligible voters, 13,556,689 people voted against the landmark EU charter while 10,668,979 people cast ballots in support of the treaty.
The abstention rate stood at 30.14 percent.
