Istanbul Governor Meets Italian Consul General

ISTANBUL (AA) - Istanbul Governor Muammer Guler met on Monday Italian Consul General in Istanbul Luciano Pezzotti.
     During the meeting, Pezzotti said that he was visiting Guler before the Milan-Liverpool game to be played in Istanbul on Wednesday, and noted that Italian Prime Minister and Milan's honorary chairman Silvio Berlusconi sent a letter to Guler to thank him for hosting this game, and a uniform signed by Milan's captain Maldini.
     Pezzotti added, ''our prime minister Berlusconi loves Turkey and Istanbul. Berlusconi and many other dignitaries from Italy will arrive in Istanbul for this game to be played on Wednesday. I thank you for your contributions to this important game.''
     On the other hand, Guler stressed that Istanbul could host many giant events, and added, ''we have also declared our candidacy to host 2012 European Football Championship.''
