ANTALYA (AA) - Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE) Committee on Economic Affairs and Development meeting has started in Turkish southern city of Antalya on Monday.
Evgeni Kirilov, chairman of PACE Committee on Economic Affairs and Development, said that they observed that Turkey was very determined on fulfillment of reforms.
Kirilov stated that Turkey's general situation would be discussed in the meeting, noting that they would get very important information on Turkish economy and Antalya.
Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Eskisehir deputy and PACE Turkish delegation chairman Murat Mercan stated that Turkey recorded a significant growth rate in the last three years thanks to strict monetary policy.
Noting that unemployment was one of the most important problems of Turkey, Mercan stated that unemployment was also one of the most serious problems of the world.
Mercan stressed that Turkey took important steps on democratization together with liberalization of the economy, noting, ''Turkey's future is very brilliant.''
Stressing that if Turkey joined the European Union (EU), Turkey would contribute much to the union, Mercan said, ''I believe that differences between Turkey and EU will create a synergy and affluence.''
On the other hand, Antalya Mayor Menderes Turel noted that Antalya hosted 6 million tourists in 2004, adding that the city aimed to host 8 million tourists this year.
