Women In Eastern Turkey Found Their Own Business

VAN (AA) - Totally 32 women have been able to found their own business in eastern Van city after being backed by Decreasing Social Risk Project.
     The Project which went into force on November 28th, 2001 after being signed by Turkey and the World Bank, aims to decrease the effect of the previous economic crisis on poor sections of the society and to increase the resistance of people against such crises. This time the project assisted the women in eastern Turkey to found their own business.
     The coordinator of the project Meltem Deviren told A.A that women entrepreneurs who started their business at home or in business places have been very successful. Deviren said 5,000 US dollars were provided for women who started to work in urban areas and 3,000 US dollars were provided to those women working in rural areas. She said the number of entrepreneurs would increase as project proposals could be presented until 2006.
