CELEBRATION AT PARLIAMENT WITH NAZIM
''Kuvayi Milliye'' work of (world-famous Turkish poet) Nazim Hikmet will be performed at Istanbul's Ataturk Cultural Center within the framework of the celebrations of 85th anniversary of foundation of Turkish parliament. This is the first time that a work by Nazim Hikmet will be performed in an activity organized by the parliament.
GREECE COMES FIRST, WE REGRESSED
Helena Paparizou, representing Greece in the 50th Eurovision Song Contest held in (Ukrainian capital of) Kiev won the contest with 230 points. On the other hand, Gulseren representing Turkey only won 92 points, and Turkey is no more in the ''finalist group''.

The biggest game of this year will be played (between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray) in Kadikoy district of Istanbul at 7.00 p.m. today (Sunday). Fenerbahce, which wants to declare itself as the champion of this season, is getting prepared for a show at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium. 15 foreign journalists from Japan to France will watch this game.
SHE TOLD ABOUT PROPHET HATICE
Emine Erdogan, wife of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, attended the International Businesswomen's Forum in Syrian capital of Damascus. In the meeting, Erdogan asked women in the Arab world to change, and showed Prophet Mohammed's wife Prophet Hatice's success in trade as an example to all women.

Helena Paparizou brought the Eurovision cup to Greece winning 230 points with her song ''My Number One'' in the 50th Eurovision Song Contest held in (Ukrainian capital of) Kiev. The Greek singer got 12 points (the highest point) from Turkey. Gulseren, representing our country with ''Rimi Rimi Ley'', could not be ranked among the first 10 countries.
SIBEL BECOMES WORLD CHAMPION
17-year-old Sibel Ozkan, competing in 48 kg in the junior's weightlifting championships in South Korea, won gold in total and bronze in snatch.

NEW INITIATIVE FOR CYPRUS
United Nations (UN) Secretary General Kofi Annan has taken a step to resume his good will mission. The Greek Cypriots has demanded some changes to the Annan plan, like lifting the unilateral intervention rights of the guarantor states, and demilitarizing the island. Prendergast (UN envoy), who will go to Cyprus on May 30th, will meet TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) President Mehmet Ali Talat and Greek Cypriot leader Tassos Papadopoulos.

During the Conference on Prevention of Women Trafficking held in Istanbul, experts said that women in the hands of the human trafficking gangs are used as slaves, and stressed that the number of such gangs in Turkey reached almost 200.

AKP SEARCHES FOR FORMULA
After the decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) that head terrorist Abdullah Ocalan was not tried fairly, the ruling Justice & Development Party (AKP) has not developed a road map yet. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan says that Turkey will wait until the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe makes its decision, while Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul and Justice Minister Cemil Cicek have signaled retrial.
EXPORTS ON THE RISE
Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen announced that 12-month exports exceeded 68.9 billion USD as of May 17th, and said, ''if this rise continues, Turkey will have earned 75 billion USD through exports by the end of this year.''

OIC SG: DEMOCRACY BRINGS PROSPERITY
Speaking in the World Economic Forum, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, the Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), said, ''Islam countries should undergo structural changes. Muslims should also have a comfortable life as the people of the developed countries.'' Ihsanoglu stated that Islam had nothing to do with terrorism.

The government, which is dealing with the head terrorist Abdullah Ocalan case after the decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), is trying to find an ''appropriate method''. Justice and Foreign ministries are backing the option to re-open the case instead of retrial.

RESPONSE TO GENOCIDE ALLEGATIONS WITH BRITISH DOCUMENTS
Prof. Dr. Salahi Sonyel, who is carrying out a research in Britain for the last 40 years, responded to the so-called Armenian genocide allegations with documents. Preparing a book based on British archives, Sonyel said that he did not see any single document saying that the Ottoman Empire committed genocide against the Armenians.
GREEN CORRIDOR TO BE OPENED FOR EXPORTS
Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen, who held meetings in Finnish capital of Helsinki, said that the government was planning to open ''green corridor'' for rapid transition of cargo vehicles and to end problems in exports. This corridor is expected to be firstly opened with Bulgaria and Russia.
