Chirac says EU measures on Chinese textiles not enough

NANCY, France - French President Jacques Chirac said Thursday that EU measures to curb an influx of Chinese textiles were significant but "not sufficient".
"We have a real problem," Chirac told a joint press conference with German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski in the eastern French city of Nancy.
"We cannot accept this without doing anything," the French leader told reporters, saying EU restrictions on imports of flax yarn and T-shirts from China were "significant but not sufficient".
Chirac said the massive increase in the amount of Chinese textiles entering the European Union threatened the jobs of a "significant number of workers" across the continent.
