LEFKOSA (AA) - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Mehmet Ali Talat has indicated today (Wednesday) that the Greek Cypriot leadership should lift property cases in order not to cause difficulty in relations.
In a statement made during a meeting with a delegation, Talat remarked that, although property cases seem to be made by ''individuals,'' the Greek Cypriot leadership is behind all the cases. ''Such cases cause difficulty in our ties,'' said Talat.
Talat said that his government's goal is to create a Cyprus in which every one is equal. ''Equality of individuals is not merely important for the Turkish Cypriots, but the whole island itself,'' commented Talat.
We wish to see a Cyprus in which the two societies live side by side in peace with each other, noted Talat. ''The Greek Cypriot leadership has an ethical obligation to stop individual cases. This is a true test of leadership. The leadership must motivate the citizenry so that a comprehensive solution is found in Cyprus,'' expressed Talat.
Talat added that the Greek Cypriot side must start working so that bi-lateral talks do not get badly poisoned.
