ANKARA (AA) - German Union 90/Greens Party Co-Chair Claudia Roth has stated today (Tuesday) that they support Turkey's European Union process. ''Reforms in Turkey must go on with dynamism,'' said Roth.
After holding a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul, Roth made a short statement.
''Mr. Gul informed and assured me that reforms in Turkey are going on without slowing down. Gul also talked about his administration's will to deal with all problems that arise during the implementation of the reforms,'' stressed Roth.
According to Roth, reforms must take place in Turkey without EU pressure. ''The Copenhagen criteria must be applicable to all regions in Turkey,'' told Roth.
Roth commented that she discussed the position of women in the Turkish society with Gul. ''The Kurdish problem and its solution is a hot topic that Turkey must deal with in the EU process,'' also noted Roth.
Roth indicated that the recent decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) on terrorist Ocalan must be respected and that Turkey must act according to the ECHR's decision.
