ANKARA (AA) - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday that Hungary was one of the EU-member countries supporting Turkey's membership process.
Erdogan left for Hungary upon the official invitation of Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany.
Holding a news conference prior to his departure, Prime Minister Erdogan said, ''the last visit between Turkey and Hungary on the level of prime minister took place in 2000. I will hold talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany, President Ferenc Madl and Parliament Speaker Katalin Szili. These talks will focus on the bilateral relations between our countries, international and regional developments.''
''Hungary was one of the EU-member countries supporting Turkey's EU membership process. We attribute importance to development of political and economic relations with Hungary,'' he said.
Erdogan told reporters that an economic cooperation agreement would be signed between the two countries during his visit.
