PARIS - Negotiations continued Wednesday on the site for next week's crucial nuclear talks between the foreign ministers of Britain, France and Germany and Iranian officials, with Geneva a possibility, diplomats said.
"There is a new possibility -- Geneva -- but that's not confirmed. There is still uncertainty about the place. After Brussels and Paris, Geneva has also been named," a European diplomat told AFP on condition of anonymity.
The diplomat said Iran's top nuclear negotiator Hassan Rowhani would "a priori" meet with British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, French Foreign Minister Michel Barnier and German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer on May 24.
EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana is also expected to join the talks.
According to Paris-based diplomats, the ministerial-level meeting will be preceded by preparatory talks -- likely in Brussels -- bringing together aides to the three EU foreign ministers and a member of Solana's staff.
Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi described next week's meeting as possibly the "last round of negotiations" between Iran and the so-called EU-3.
Britain, France and Germany called a crisis meeting with Iran after Tehran announced it would resume uranium conversion work, a move that would violate a November 2004 accord on freezing nuclear fuel work and opening long-term talks.
