MOSCOW - Oleg Romantsev has stepped down as coach of Dynamo Moscow after his side suffered a fourth consecutive defeat in the domestic league, local media reported Tuesday.
On Saturday Dynamo lost 2-1 to Perm, who won promotion to the Russian Premier League last year and the capital side are currently a lowly 10th in the 16-strong division.
Romantsev, the former Russian national coach, who also led Spartak Moscow to their nine league titles, said Monday that he had decided to resign after failing to overcome his side's lack of team spirit.
Reports said Romantsev had been replaced by his assistant coach Andrei Kobelev.
There were rumours, however, that Victor Pontes, who is currently coaching the Portuguese high-flyers Uniao Leiria, is in the running to take over at Dynamo.
