TBILISI - The republic of Georgia said Tuesday it would pay 20,000 lari (10,900 dollars) for information leading to the capture of persons involved in last week's throwing of a hand grenade at US President George W. Bush during his visit to Tbilisi.
The interior ministry distributed a telephone hotline number as well as an email address for people wishing to respond and gave a guarantee of anonymity.
Georgian and US security officials launched an investigation after a hand-grenade was found near the open-air stage where US President George W. Bush and Georgian counterpart Mikhail Saakashvili made speeches to a huge crowd.
Both Georgian and US Officials have said the grenade was inactive and posed no threat to the presidents with the Georgian side adding that it was "planted" to foment panic in the crowd.
