MARINA DI GROSSETTO, Italy - Italian cyclist Luca de Angeli has been axed from his Selle Italia team after giving a positive dope test at the end of March, his team said at the Tour of Italy on Friday.
Blood-boosting drug EPO was found in 29-year-old de Angeli's sample given during the Coppi-Bartali international cycling week and analysed at a Rome laboratory.
"We have sacked him in line with our rules," team boss Gianni Savio told AFP.
