Blast near Israeli position at Lebanese border: army

JERUSALEM - An explosion occurred Thursday near an Israeli army position close to the Lebanese border, an army spokesman said, adding that the blast may have been from a rocket fired from Lebanon.
The blast happened in the Chebaa Farms area in the foothills of Mount Hermon where the borders of Lebanon, Syria, and Israel meet, he said, adding that an inquiry had been opened to determine the cause of the explosion.
Israeli troops backed by helicopters have begun search operations, military sources said.
Israel said Thursday it would lodge a complaint at the United Nations calling on Beirut to disarm all militias after a Katyusha-type rocket fired from southern Lebanon hit the Jewish state.
The attack late Wednesday caused no casualties but left damage in the industrial area of the town of Shlomi, five kilometers (three miles) from the Lebanese border close to the Mediterranean.
