STUTTGART, Germany - A German court Thursday sentenced a Kurd to three and half years in prison for attacking a Turkish-run restaurant and a Turkish cultural centre in 1999.
Nobody was hurt, but the cost of the damage was 5,000 euros (6,350 dollars).
The Kurd, aged 26, told the court in Stuttgart in southwest Germany that he had acted out of anger at the arrest of Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan in Nairobi by Turkish forces.
Ocalan's Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) waged a bloody campaign for self-rule in mainly Kurdish southeast Turkey between 1984 and 1999, with the conflict claiming some 37,000 lives.
