ANKARA (AA) - One of Switzerland's foremost research groups International Institute for Management Development's (IMD) ''World Competitiveness Power 2005'' remarked that Turkey's competitiveness is on the rise.
In IMD's 2004 report, Turkey was ranked 55th out of 60 economies. 2005 report indicates that Turkey is now 48th most competitive economy in the world.
Turkey left behind such countries as Greece (50th), Brazil (51st), Italy (53rd), Russia (54th) and Poland (57th).
IMD 2005 report listed the United States as the most competitive economy, followed by Hong Kong (2nd) and Singapore (3rd).
The IMD report is based on a criteria of 314 topics, including economic performance, public and private sector productivity.
Turkey's rank improved in 2005 due to such factors as an increase in foreign investment, fall in real interest rates, growth in tourism, increase in exports and employment.
