ANKARA (AA) - Turkish State Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Sahin said on Tuesday that draft law on foundations will be presented to Turkish Parliament in coming days.
Following the Council of Ministers meeting, Sahin told reporters that foundations draft law was discussed in the previous council of ministers meeting and it was given its final shape, adding that it will be submitted to Turkish Parliament in coming days.
Sahin said, ''there are more than 50,000 foundations in Turkey. With the draft law, freedom area of these foundations will be extended and several problems about foundations will be eliminated.''
When asked about the content of draft law, Sahin said, ''during the period of previous and current governments, several changes were made about property rights of religious foundations. There is not any legal obstacle in this issue for existing 161 religious foundations. EU officials and religious foundations have several complaints about the implementation. The draft law is for removal of these complaints on a large scale.''
Sahin said that Turkish Premier Erdogan briefed ministers about his visit to Russian Federation during the meeting.
Upon a question about the decision which will be taken by European Court of Human Rights about Abdullah Ocalan, head of PKK terrorist organization, Sahin said that there is no development about the issue at the moment, thus they did not discuss it during the meeting.
