BASRA, Iraq - Forty-five people were hurt Wednesday in an explosion at a plant producing fertilizers near the southern Iraqi town of Basra, a plant engineer and medical sources said.
The blast, which sparked a fire, might have been caused by a bomb, said the plant engineer who declined to be named.
Emergency hospital workers said 45 people were taken to hospital, some suffering serious burns.
