ANKARA (AA) - Turkish parliament has approved the free trade agreement between Turkey and Tunisia and it has been published in the Official Gazette on Tuesday.
The free trade agreement was signed by Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen and Tunisian Trade Minister Mondher Zenaidi in Tunisia on November 25th, 2004.
The free trade agreement aims to increase economic and technical cooperation between the two countries, lift quotas on trade of goods including agricultural products, create favorable competition conditions and encourage mutual investments. The agreement envisages establishment of a free trade area between the two countries at the end of a nine-year transition period.
Under the agreement, Turkey will decrease its customs duties on industrial products to zero. Tunisia, on the other hand, will gradually decrease the rate of tax on imports of Turkish goods.
