ANKARA (AA) - Consolidated budget deficit has shown a decrease of 46.6 and was recorded as 5,472 million New Turkish liras (YTL) (nearly 3,998 million USD) in the first four months of 2005 when compared to same period of previous year.
Turkish Ministry of Finance announced the budgetary figures on Tuesday. In April, the Turkey had expenses of 11,335 million YTL. During April, total income of Turkey was 8,859 million YTL. Accordingly, a budget deficit of 2,476 million YTL in April was recorded.
Between January-April, a total of 42,668 million YTL was spent from the budget.
During the first four months of 2005, 10,795 million YTL was spent for employees, 16,181 million YTL was spent for interests, 2,120 million YTL went to procurement of goods and services, and 10,528 million went to current transfers.
In the same period, 1,443 million YTL was paid to social security organizations. Agriculture received 1,336 million YTL in the first four months of 2005.
As of the end of April 2005, consolidated budget income was 37,196 million YTL. Out of this amount, 30,539 million YTL was earned from taxes, and 5,146 million YTL came from other sources. 886 million YTL was earned from added budget income. 561 million YTL came from donations and grants. 65 million YTL was earned by institutional income.
During January-April, total expenses increased by 1 percent, and total income increased by 16.5 percent compared to the same period last year.
