BUCHAREST (AA) - The meeting of foreign ministers of the Southeast European Countries Cooperation Process (SECCP) has started in Romanian capital of Bucharest on Tuesday.
Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul is attending the meeting on behalf of Turkey. The meeting was attended also by representatives of Romania, Greece, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Albania, Macedonia, Serbia-Montenegro and Croatia. Meanwhile, Moldova is attending the meeting as an observer.
Making opening remarks of the meeting, Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu of Romania said that it was time to leave behind the dark periods of the history and search for new opportunities.
He highlighted importance of initiatives for economic cooperation and commercial integration in the region.
Following today's meetings, Bucharest will host the 8th Summit of Heads of State and Government of SECCP tomorrow (Wednesday).
Turkey, Romania, Greece, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Albania, Macedonia, Serbia-Montenegro and Croatia will be represented at the summit which is also known as the Balkans Summit.
The summit is expected to focus on recent developments in the Balkans, especially in Kosovo.
During the summit, Greece will take over rotating presidency from Romania.
