BUCHAREST (AA) - Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul arrived in Bucharest, Romania on Monday to attend the 8th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP).
Speaking to reporters, Gul said, ''Turkey and the EU have a partnership relation. We will be together with the EU from now on.''
''When Turkey joins the EU, the borders of EU will start from those of Turkey. Turkey has had great assets since December 17th, 2004,'' added Gul.
Gul said, ''after December 17th, foreign companies rushed to in Turkey, interest rates dropped and value of public and private sector products increased.''
- BALKANS SUMMIT -
SEECP foreign ministers' meeting will be held on Tuesday and the summit of the Heads of State and Government of SEECP will be held on Wednesday.
Turkey, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Serbia-Montenegro, Romania and Croatia as well as Moldova (as observer) will attend Balkans Summit.
Situation in the Balkans, particularly Kosovo, will be discussed in the summit. Participants will also take up development of infrastructure in Southeastern Europe as well as coordination among cooperation processes in the Balkans.
Greece will take over SEECP acting presidency from Romania at the end of the summit.
SEECP is the symbol of will of regional countries for development of cooperation among themselves as well as settlement of permanent stability in Southeastern Europe.
SEECP aims to solve problems in the region through political dialogue and common will. It is also important for preservation and consolidation of peace and stability in the Balkans.
