ANKARA (AA) - Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer has indicated today (Monday) that mutual visits with the Portuguese in the past few years show the good level of relations based on common values, cooperation and dialog.
In a press conference prior to his departure for Portugal, Sezer remarked that the Portuguese President Jorge Sampaio had visited Turkey in September 2003. ''During my visit to Portugal, we will handle the Turkish-Portuguese relations in all fields. We are going to focus on the steps needed to make our relations better. We will exchange ideas and opinions on regional matters,'' said Sezer.
''Portugal's support of Turkey in December 2004 has been a symbol of good feelings of the Portuguese for the Turkish people. Portugal's objective approach to our relations is very important. I expect my visit would contribute to the development of good ties between Turkey and Portugal,'' told Sezer.
