ANKARA (AA) - Turkish Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc has indicated today (Monday) that Turkey's membership in the European Union (EU) would add color to the union. ''Turkey, as a country that has done its homework, expects to begin entry talks without delay on October 3rd, 2005,'' said Arinc.
Arinc indicated that the Turkish parliament has been in the center of reforms conducted in Turkey. ''The decision of European Union heads of state and governments on December 17th, 2004 is a confirmation of the success of the Turkish parliament and other Turkish government organs in bringing Turkey to a level of high civilization. Turkey has entered a tough and long road on the way to full EU membership. Turkey, as a home to different beliefs, and as a country with a civilization that brings cultures together will add to the cultural richness of the EU. I want to wish every one in Turkey and EU a happy Europe Day,'' commented Arinc.
