PRESIDENT PUTIN WELCOMES GUEST LEADERS
MOSCOW (AA) - President Vladimir Putin of Russia welcomed guest leaders who are currently in Moscow to attend "Victory in Europe Day" ceremonies marking 60th anniversary of the Allied victory over Nazi Germany.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is attending the ceremony.
Dozens of world leaders, including U.S. President George W. Bush, French President Jacques Chirac and German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, will watch the parade of 7 thousand Russian soldiers and 2,600 veterans in Moscow's Red Square.
Later, they will lay wreaths to honor fallen soldiers.
President Putin will host an official luncheon in honor of guest leaders.
Russian authorities have taken extraordinary measures to secure the city during the celebrations.
