Kuroda: Turkey's 9.9 Percent Economic Development Is Impressive

ISTANBUL (AA) - Chairman of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Haruhiko Kuroda has indicated Friday that one may compare Turkey to China as far as economic development is concerned. ''But you may not compare the two countries based on population, structure and other factors,'' said Kuroda.
     Kuroda held a press conference at the end of the 38th annual meeting of ADB in Istanbul.
     He remarked that Turkey has been successful in bringing down the annual inflation rate thanks to economic programs it implemented in the past three years. ''Turkey's 9.9 percent economic development is impressive. However, economic reforms must continue in order to ensure further economic growths,'' stated Kuroda.
     Kuroda expressed that the ADB's meeting in Istanbul focused on regional economic cooperation and integration in Asia, elimination of poverty and facilitating economic growth.
     The next meeting of the ADB will be held in Hyderabad, India in 2006.
