ISTANBUL (AA) - Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy Kemal Dervis who was elected the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Administrator, said on Friday that the post to which he was chosen was an international public assignment.
''It has not been an easy competition and we must perceive it as the victory of Turkey,'' told Dervis to reporters at Forum Istanbul Conference.
Dervis said that his new post was an exciting one and added that he wouldn't be chosen to this post without the support of Turkey.
''I know this is going to be a difficult task but we must work hard for a more fair and better world,'' Dervis said.
Upon a question about his being a parliamentarian from CHP, Dervis said ''it is not possible for me to do active politics from now on but I will continue to be a member of CHP.''
