BISHKEK (AA) - Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul, who met Kyrgyz Deputy Prime Minister Daniyar Usenov responsible for economy in Bishkek today (Friday), recommended him to assure economic stability in the country, sources said.
Sources stated that Gul underlined importance of transparency and rule of law in the new period (Kyrgyzstan is facing after the opposition took the control in March).
Gul also stressed that economic reforms were necessary, and Usenov and Gul discussed how foreign investments could be drawn to this country during their meeting, the same sources noted.
Pointing out that Kyrgyzstan should attach importance to tourism, Gul said that this country had the potential to become ''Switzerland of Asia''.
The same sources said that problems of Turkish businessmen were debated during Gul-Usenov meeting and that a commission had been formed in this country for compensation of Turkish businessmen who suffered losses due to last March's protests. Gul said that solution of this problem would increase mutual confidence.
Gul and Usenov also debated signature of a new protocol between Turkish International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and Kyrgyzstan and possible contributions of TICA to this country, the sources added.
On the other hand, Gul met his Kyrgyz counterpart Roza Otunbayeva. In this meeting, Otunbayeva said that Turkish Airlines (THY) was the first airlines opening Kyrgyzstan to the world when this country was not known (by the world), and he asked THY to increase number of its flights to their country.
