BISHKEK (AA) - Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said on Friday that Turkish-Kyrgyz relations would be more meaningful in the new period in Kyrgyzstan and those relations would constitute a model for all Central Asian countries.
Speaking in the joint news conference with Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Roza Otunbayeva, Gul said that he came to Kyrgyzstan to show Turkey's support to Kyrgyz people and that Turkey wanted to further improve the bilateral relations.
Expressing his best wishes regarding the new period in Kyrgyzstan, Gul said that July 10th elections were important for Kyrgyzstan and he believed Kyrgyz people would be successful in displaying to the world that they were democratic and free people. ''We believe that a more liberal, democratic, reformist and anti-corruptionist period will start in Kyrgyzstan,'' Gul said.
''We will continue to support Kyrgyz people and we regard extending assistance to Kyrgyzstan in its transitional period as a brotherhood responsibility,'' Gul said.
When reminded about the unpleasant events which Turkish investors faced during the March 24th period in the country, Gul said that ''anger of the people can appear in the streets when big transformations take place in a country.'' Gul stressed that Turkey had never considered those incidents as attacks of Kyrgyz people on only Turkish businessmen.
Stressing that no single Turkish businessman would leave Kyrgyzstan, Gul said that the continuation of Turkish businessmen's investments would be the best call to businessmen in the world to make investments in Kyrgyzstan.
