ISTANBUL (AA) - Czech President Vaclav Klaus, who is currently in Turkey, said on Wednesday that EU should be warm to all countries who wanted to join EU.
''No body can claim ownership for Europe, no body can dare to say that this/that country is not a part of Europe,'' said Klaus at the dinner hosted in his honor.
Addressing the dinner at Swissotel, Klaus said that EU which wanted to stay closed for 40 years, should work as a very open organization today.
''I favor a deeper political unity/European continent,'' said Klaus. Referring to his earlier remarks, Klaus stressed that ''Europe forces us to wear only one size shirt, if Turkey enters EU, EU has to admit that there are different shirt sizes.''
State Minister Kursad Tuzmen said in his part that economic diplomacy was given very much importance in the world. Turkey recently increased trade with its neighbors by three folds, he said adding this would contribute to prosperity of the region.
