Gul: If Coalition Forces Withdraw, A Vacuum Occurs In Iraq

ANKARA (AA) - Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said on Wednesday, ``if the coalition forces withdraw from Iraq, a vacuum occurs in the country. Therefore, we do not want withdrawal of the coalition forces.``
     Gul informed members of parliamentary commissions of foreign affairs, national defense, EU adjustment and human rights on recent developments in foreign policy.
     Upon a question about Iraq, Gul said, ``if the coalition forces withdraw from Iraq, a vacuum occurs in the country. Such a vacuum may lead to separation of Iraq jeopardizing border security of Turkey. Therefore, we do not want withdrawal of the coalition forces.``
     Referring to allegations of so-called Armenian genocide, Gul said, ``the Turkish government, opposition, parliament and non-governmental organizations, will launch an important initiative. The world public opinion has accepted the so-called Armenian genocide entailing us to be more influential and active. We will explain Turkey`s rightful notions in each possible occasion.
