NEW YORK - ''Treaty on non-proliferation of nuclear weapons (NPT) should be taken up with its all dimensions. Non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and nuclear disarmament are processes which strengthen each other mutually,'' said Turkey's Permanent Representative to United Nations Baki Ilkin.
Speaking at the NPT 7th Review Conference on Tuesday, Ilkin said, ''international security milieu has changed radically in recent years. Terrorists and some states which do not comply with NPT pose big threats for the balance of agreements that has been established in the last 40 years.''
''Turkey believes NPT is a unique international instrument. NPT should continue to have a vital role against not only old but also new threats against security in nuclear area,'' he added.
''Turkey hopes NPT review conference will contribute to unity and reliability of NPT,'' said Ilkin.
