Abbas: We Expect From Our Brother Turkey To Provide Political And Economic Support

RAMALLAH - Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has remarked today (Monday) that Palestine expects its brother Turkey to provide political and economic support.
Abbas and Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a press conference in Muqata.
''If Israel wants Turkey to be a mediator, we are already wishing for this to happen as Palestine. Turkey has the opportunity to become a mediator between Palestine and Israel,'' told Abbas.
Abbas indicated that Turkey has an important role in the peace process and that ''as Palestine they wish for Turkey's role to continue.''
Abbas noted that the agreement reached in the Sharm El Sheikh city of Egypt is being implemented currently. ''But, there are some delays caused by Israel,'' said Abbas.
Abbas mentioned that dialog with Israel is continuing despite the fact that Israel has not fully withdrawn from Palestinian cities.
''We believe that our brother Turkey will have a prominent role in regional and global matters. We thank Turkey today for its assistance in the training of Palestinian security forces and help in agriculture, health, culture and other areas,'' stressed Abbas.
The appointment of a coordinator is a sign that Turkey's assistance will continue without breaks, commented Abbas.
