TEHRAN - Silk road train where Turkish exports products were introduced arrived in Tehran today (Sunday).
Addressing the opening of Silk Road Train Fair, Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen said Silk Road was the road of friendship, unity, and integrity.
Tuzmen said this was the first time a fair was staged on a train, Tuzmen said the train would travel to Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgzstan, and Kazakhstan after Iran.
''This project will indicate that the Silk Road line will work in the 21st century rapidly and with a lower cost. With this ties between our countries and peoples will be further strengthened,'' Tuzmen noted.
Tuzmen said regional countries exerted efforts to increase trade volume, ''trade volume between Turkey and Iran, which was around 300-400 U.S. dollars between 1998-1999, reached 2.8 billion U.S. dollars last year. This will amount to four billion U.S. dollars if we exert efforts.''
Industry, textile, electronics, food, glass and ceramics products are introduced in the train.
