MUNICH - Minister of Industry and Trade Ali Coskun said on Thursday that Turkey was kept waiting for more than 40 years for full membership to EU.
Addressing the Turkey-Germany economic forum, Coskun said that ''Turkey doesn't want to wait anymore. The result of the entry talks should be Turkey's full membership to EU. We are ready for full membership.''
Coskun expressed his views about Turkey's EU bid when Otto Wiesheu, the Bavaria state minister for economy, development and technology who defended that Turkey should be a ''privileged partner'' of the EU rather than a full member.
Also giving information about the economic developments in Turkey in his speech, Coskun said that many facilities were brought for foreign investors in Turkey, calling German businessmen to invest in Turkey.
Speaking after Coskun, Otto Wiesheu said that they were amazed at the 9 percent of economic growth in Turkey, adding that the Turkish economy was back on its sound basis again. He stressed that Turkey was an important partner of the EU.
