ISTANBUL - Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that the political and economic instability which was one of the biggest impediments in front of Turkey's development, was totally overcome during their government's term in office.
Addressing the first session of the Investment Advisory Council meeting in Istanbul, Erdogan said that Turkey recorded significant progress to attract domestic and foreign investments and to improve the investment environment in Turkey --in line with the suggestions of the Council.
''We pursue determined and disciplined policies for the long term interests of Turkey and we see that the Turkish economy has much more sound structure now than it has before,'' Erdogan said.
He indicated that creating a more suitable investment environment and making Turkey a center of attraction for foreign investors, came first among the government's priorities.
''Today the confidence in our economic policies is clearly stated at every national and international fora. We've reached our target of ensuring the economic stability and sustainable growth, without making any concession. The stable policies which we have been implementing have further strengthened the climate of confidence provided both in domestic and foreign markets. We will not make concession from our strict fiscal and monetary policies. We've recorded progress in reforming our economy as a result of these policies,'' Erdogan said.
Referring to the steps taken for the integration with the EU in the last two years, Erdogan said that the EU and world countries described those steps as ''silent revolution.''
