MANAGUA - Police and demonstrators clashed in Managua Thursday despite talks aimed at defusing tensions in a three-week old political crisis.
Anti-riot police and university students were seen clashing in the eastern part of the capital after two days of relative calm.
Police fired tear gas and rubber bullets at demonstrators blocking roads while students fired back with homemade mortars.
It was not immediately known if the confrontation resulted in injuries.
