Cilvegozu Border Gate To Be Modernized

ANKARA - Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen said on Thursday that they would modernize southern Cilvegozu Border Gate within one year.
Customs Undersecretariat and Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) signed a protocol for modernization of Cilvegozu Border Gate which is on Turkish-Syrian border.
State Minister Tuzmen and TOBB Chairman Rifat Hisarciklioglu signed the protocol.
Addressing the signing ceremony, Tuzmen said that Cilvegozu border pass which would be modernized by TOBB with build-operate-transfer system would support relations with Syria and revive border trade.
TOBB Chairman Hisarciklioglu said in his part that Cilvegozu border pass carried great importance for Turkish economy and they would modernize the gate and transfer it to customs administration after operating it for 13 years.
Hisarciklioglu stressed that they would continue to work on modernization projects for Sarp, Derekoy, Halkali and Kapikule border gates after finishing this project.
