ANKARA - Halil Unlutepe, a Republican People's Party (CHP) MP from Afyonkarahisar, resigned from Turkey-Poland Interparliamentary Friendship Group on Thursday.
Unlutepe said, ''Polish parliament recently adopted a resolution which qualifies the incidents occurred in 1915 within the war conditions, as 'Armenian genocide'. Polish parliament rejected documents in Turkish archives regarding the issue and it considered baseless allegations true. (This position) is against the understanding of friendship.''
''Although Turkey expressed that it is ready to provide every contribution to Poland to learn the realities about the issue, Poland's adopting such a merciless decision is against the aims of our friendship group,'' added Unlutepe.
He noted, ''decision of Polish parliament overshadowed activities which have been pursued to establish a relation based on goodwill and confidence between parliaments of the two countries.''
